David has a background in experimental laser physics (with big ol’ gas lasers, to be precise) and has spent 15 years working in the opto-electronics industry. He specialises in systems engineering; making disparate collections of optics, electronics, software and mechanics perform useful functions and work reliably in far-flung locations. He is also the Chief Engineer.
In his spare time he is a forecaster and senior instructor at the Auckland Gliding Club.
